The Nebraska Medical Center offers a wide range of medical and surgical treatment options to patients with kidney disease and/or diabetes. These include:
- Providing comprehensive medical care for adult and pediatric patients with kidney diseases and/or diabetes.
- Pancreas alone transplant for individuals with Type I diabetes and early complications of the disease.
- Pancreas after kidney transplant for patients who have had a previous kidney transplant either from a living donor or a deceased donor.
- Kidney and pancreas transplant for Type I diabetics who have kidney failure.
- Live donation kidney transplants where one of a donor's kidneys is removed and implanted in the patient.
- Deceased donor transplants for patients who don't have a living donor option.
- Antibody reduction consideration for blood type incompatible and cross match incompatible donor/recipient pairs.
- Paired Donation Network membership to facilitate incompatible donor/recipient pairs with other incompatible donor/recipient pairs in hopes of finding a compatible transplant possibility.
- Altruistic/Anonymous Donor options where an individual is willing to donate one of their kidneys to someone they don't know who is waiting for a kidney transplant.
- Inpatient dialysis, and referral to outpatient dialysis facilities when dialysis is needed.
